At our Centre in Leatherhead we have in the region of 115 volunteers working as a team to provide round-the-clock support to those who need to talk to someone. We do so in the hope that we can alleviate some of the feelings of distress and despair which many of our callers experience. We believe in the value of being able to express these feelings to someone who will listen and accept what is being said, in total confidence and without fear of judgement.

We're available to callers on the phone, via email or to people who visit us in person. We're also involved in a pilot scheme to trial sms text mmessaging as a new way for those in need to contact us, and hopefully that'll soon be rolled out nationally.

During 2007 we answered nearly 29,000 telephone calls, replied to more than 1100 emails and a similar number of texts, as well as welcoming visitors to our centre.

More and more now, we're trying to get out of our branch and into the community that we support, so we can promote good emotional health and support those in need where it is most convenient for them.
